about

Little did we know when we moved to the Tweed Valley a few years ago that the opportunity would arise to develop a beautiful self catering apartment in Innerleithen - one of Southern Scotland’s most scenic towns.

Your hosts Aneela and Andy McKenna moved to the Scottish Borders to escape city-life, and get a bit closer to their favourite place - the outdoors (photo above: Andy catches the sun setting over the Minch Moor as he bivvy’s down for the night).

Before the move to Innerleithen, in our spare time we spent too long on the road getting to the hills, bothying, biking and clambering all over the Highlands and Lowlands - it was time to make a move so we could step out our door and be in the hills in minutes rather than hours.

We love it down here! The clean air, the pace of life, the friendly Borders folk. Spurred on by 30 minute home makeover shows, we naively took the plunge and immersed ourselves in renovating a historic 2 bedroom property into innerhaven- a great place to stay that represented all the best things about the favourite places we’ve stayed on our trips throughout the UK and Europe.

The site is where we keep track of all the developments as we get closer to opening our self catering accommodation in Innerleithen. The highs, the lows, and the lessons learnt. And it’s about why we moved to this part of the Scotland too! Have a browse and please keep coming back, because as soon as I get a chance to put down my paint brush (screwdriver, hammer and chisel), I’ll bring you some more news - about the renovation and how our holiday apartment is shaping up - and the things we get up to in the amazing countryside around us.
