www.innerhaven.co.uk

Our new website - www.innerhaven.co.uk- is under development, and as soon as we get a chance to clean up the house, finish the final touch ups and…buy the bloomin furniture - we can get some really nice photos loaded onto the site at last!

Long time no (blog) speak!

Well, there’s been a lot of 12-15 hour days of late, making a big push to get the house ready for opening - realistically it’ll be end of April/beginning of May before we’re ready to welcome guests - but at last the fruits of our labour are beginning to show.  The house is looking magic!
There’s still a […]

anyone for a shower…or a bath…or a bath and shower!

It took a while but the bathroom suites are in at last!
Now that I’ve climbed to 7th Dan Ikea, erecting the shower enclosure was only just infuriating. I only walked away from it swearing and cursing a couple of times: “who thinks up these flippin designs…fiddly…bl&&dy…pieces that make up one of these shower cabinets?”
And […]

who’s a lucky boy then…me!

Aneela’s going to be testing two new curry recipes for innerhaven…and guess who’s the guinea pig!
Her curries are well known - she is an absolutely fantastic cook - and if folk’re round for dinner, and Aneela’s decided to cook a casserole or an Italian dish, you can almost here the sighs of disappointment that a curry’s […]

outdoor show 2 - an update

Well, Aneela’s been too busy helping me with the vast re-decorating job at innerhaven so it seems that we’ll not be able to cook up some of her amazing tablet and flapjacks to give away at the outooor show afterall…
But instead we’ve organised something just as sweet (maybe not quite as tasty though) - and […]

it’s taking shape - bathroom’s going in!

It seems a very long time ago since I did all the ripping out work, and it’s a real boost to at last see the bathroom suites going in.

virtual mountain biker

With all the renovation work taking over our lives these days, I’ve not even looked at my bike for weeks!  I don’t think vigorous wallpapering and painting counts as real exercise, but it’s about as close as I’ll get to a cardiovascular workout until the house is ready to let out.
The only thing that keeps […]

hard core

Another day, another adventure into the unknown - this time with HILTI core drill, and diamond tipped core bit!

I soon realised why neither my plumber or local builder wanted to take on the task of creating 2 bathroom ventilation holes in the side of the house.
For those unfamiliar with the construction of a typical Scottish Borders […]

rest. relax. recharge.

When it’s finally ready to rent, this is what our self catering apartment in the Scottish Borders is intended for - resting, relaxing and recharging.
We hope that by the time it’s ready we’ll have thought of just about everything to help you get the most from your long weekend, short break or holiday in the Tweed Valley.

what a bargain…NOT!

Well, little did I know when I bought my luxury shower package from Screwfix, that building an elevated plinth to allow for surface mounted waste drainage, would require a physics, maths and civil engineering degree!I got there in the end, but maybe next time I’ll take the plumbers advice and go with the tried and tested […]
